Since moving to Cedar Rapids in 2018, David has become a leader in the community, serving as Treasurer on several nonprofit boards (Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, CSPS, Revival Theatre Company, CR Pride) and volunteering for Feed Iowa First and Harmony School of Music. He is especially proud of being the founder of the Wellington Heights Tree Equity Coalition, which raised money that was used to remove tree stumps and plant native-species trees throughout the neighborhood.  David continues to partner with the nonprofit Murals and More and was instrumental in getting public murals painted on in theTime-Check neighborhood and on The Arc building in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Supporting and promoting locally owned businesses is a priority for David. He is also an avid collector of art and ceramics made by local artists.

David works as a Finance and Controls leader at Transamerica. He is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his MBA in finance and strategy from Northwestern University. Throughout his 30+ career, David consistently demonstrated that he is a results-driven and team-orientated leader with success in solving complex problems.

David lives with his husband, Cedar Rapids native Matt McGrane, and their rescue cat Bandit and rescue Cocker Spaniel Wiggles. In his free time, you can find David jogging or biking across the city, participating in book clubs, attending live theatre or musical performances, or watering the 170+ trees he planted in the community after the 2020 Derecho.
